Roving Seminar

The African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Department of the Registrar General, organized a roving seminar which took place from 20th to 21st March, 2017 at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel, in Blantyre, and 23rd and 24th March, 2017, at Ufulu Gardens, in Lilongwe.


The main objective of the seminar was to promote ARIPO as a regional hub for the development and promotion of the Intellectual Property (IP) system on the African continent. The first seminar focused on the protection and promotion of patents, utility models, industrial designs, trademarks and computer software whereas the second seminar was on the protection and utilization of traditional knowledge, genetic resources and expressions of folklore.
